My Name is Mick Popka and I am one of the organisers of the 15th ICCCR which was held in Harrogate, Yorkshire in August 2012.

La traction avant est plus q'une voiture,c'est un mythe. La tractionnite en est une passion 15/6 sur alimentée septembre 1950 , tubulure château trois carbus Zénith,ligne échappement inox. Environ 90cv objetif 130cv pour le circuit Charade les 90 ans de la traction
Dans la famille depuis 1977.

Ouais je voulais le dire aussi, mais si pour "oignons" je me doute que c'est "onions" [sauf qu'en général t'as toujours un petit malin qui te dit que non, ce sont en fait des échalotes...], pour "calandre" eh ben je sais pas.

My father was born in 1915, the 7th son of the POPKO family in a small village called "Jukovich" which may have been in White Russia.
In 1930 his eldest brother emigrated to France, as a language teacher, and settled in Chalon-sur-marne, a small village near Chaumont.
In 1936 my father joined the 2nd Polish Cavarly.
In 1939 he was de-mobbed and sent back to his village to be part of the local police.
When the Russian forces arrived he was transported to the Ukraine.
He escaped from the prison camp and reached the free polish forces in North Africa, under General Anders.
He was involved in the actions in North Africa and the invasion of Italy.
At Monte Casino, he was wounded and sent back eventually to the UK where he ended up in an internment camp until 1949.
On entering the UK they couldn't understand his accent nor read his "continental" handwriting, so the family name changed from "POPKO" to "POPKA"
He met my mother in the early 1950's.....
His brother's family has expanded in France and we are still in contact with them.....
